Somnath is a city and a municipality in Gir Somnath district in the Indian state of Gujarat. Somnath is located on the coast of the Arabian Sea and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the most sacred temples of Shiva.

Maheshwari Dharamshala’s rooms are very neat and clean. All the rooms were very hygienic. The Bhavan is near the main temple of Somnath. The bus station of Patan is 1.2km away from the Bhavan.
The Bhavan provide ac and non-ac rooms, and all the rooms have attached bathrooms. They also provide towels and drinking water to their guests. There is also a canteen providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner at a very reasonable price to their customers.
They also have a separate parking area so their guests can easily park their vehicles without any hesitation. The staff of the behaviour is polite, humble and very helpful to everyone.
The Somnath temple is known as the ” Shrine Eternal “, the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The Jyotirlingas are the most venerated shrines of Lord Shiva.
The temple is believed to have been first built in the 7th century BC by the Somnathpuri kings and then rebuilt and destroyed several times. The present temple was reconstructed in 1947 and is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for Hindus.
The temple has been demolished and reconstructed many times in its history. The main temple is today a large imposing structure built in the Chalukya style of architecture.
The first temple at Somnath was built by the Moon God, Soma, and his son, the Sun God, SURYA. Soma and Surya were two of the nine celestial gods or Navagrahas.
